Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong by IHG, you immediately get that “this place knows what it’s doing” vibe. It’s a four-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it focuses on getting the essentials absolutely right. The lobby feels fresh and modern without being sterile, and honestly, after dealing with Shanghai’s intensity all day, there’s something reassuring about stepping into a space that just works.
Location That Actually Makes Sense
Here’s what I love about this spot in Shanghai — you’re in Changning District, which means you’re close enough to everything important but far enough away to actually get some sleep. The Hongqiao area is where a lot of business travelers end up, and I can see why couples rate the location so highly. You’ve got easy access to both airports, the train stations are manageable, and there’s this nice mix of local life and international convenience that you don’t always find. Plus, the parking situation is sorted — and trust me, that’s not something to take lightly in Shanghai.
The Room Experience
The room setup is what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express, but executed really well. Everything feels purposeful — the bed is genuinely comfortable, the shower has proper pressure, and there are enough outlets in the right places. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but when you’re dealing with jet lag or a long day of meetings, you want a space that just lets you decompress. The soundproofing is decent too, which matters more than you might think in a city like this.
Breakfast Worth Getting Up For
You know what surprised me? The breakfast actually delivers. They do this Asian buffet setup that strikes a nice balance — you’ve got congee and local options alongside more familiar Western choices. It’s not fancy, but it’s fresh and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. The timing works well too — they seem to understand that business travelers need flexibility, and the space doesn’t feel rushed or cramped even when it’s busy.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel gets the fundamentals right in a way that’s actually pretty rare. The staff knows their stuff without being overly formal, the location gives you options without the chaos, and everything from the Wi-Fi to the air conditioning just works reliably. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on why you’re actually in Shanghai instead of dealing with hotel drama. Recent guests consistently rate the location highly, and after staying here, I get it — sometimes the best thing a hotel can do is get out of your way and let you enjoy the city.

What could be improved: Отель не подтвердил мой перенос брони с 25 марта 2024 на 26 марта 2024. Не удалось заселиться в этот отель, так как к моему приезду мест не было! При личном звонке в отель они отказались мне помочь и сказали, что всё равно снимут деньги за проживание. Мне пришлось уехать в другой отель и купить там номер. Я зараннее через букинг обращался в этот отель с просьбой перенести мне дату заезда на один день вперёд! Мне никто не ответил через букинг до сих пор.
