Artyzen Habitat Taopu Shanghai Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Artyzen Habitat Taopu Shanghai, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel. The lobby has this sleek, contemporary feel that somehow manages to be both sophisticated and welcoming — honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve made a smart choice before you’ve even checked in. Located in Shanghai’s Putuo District, this five-star property sits in what I’d call an emerging neighborhood that’s rapidly becoming one of the city’s most interesting areas.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I really appreciate about the location — you’re away from the tourist crowds but still incredibly well-connected to everything that matters in Shanghai. The Taopu area has this authentic local vibe that you just don’t get in the more central districts, and couples seem to absolutely love it here (I can see why, actually). You’ve got easy access to the metro, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by genuine Shanghai life. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s driven in Shanghai will tell you is no small thing.

Room Experience

The room design strikes this perfect balance between modern luxury and comfort — I mean, you can tell they’ve really thought about how people actually use hotel spaces. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms have that spa-like quality without being overly flashy. What impressed me most was the attention to lighting and space flow — everything just feels right, you know? The views vary depending on which floor you’re on, but even the city-facing rooms give you a nice sense of Shanghai’s evolving skyline.

Dining and Amenities

The breakfast setup here is actually worth getting up for, which I don’t say lightly. They’ve got both American classics and a solid buffet spread that includes plenty of local options — it’s the kind of variety that works whether you’re jet-lagged and craving something familiar or ready to dive into regional flavors. The main restaurant serves contemporary cuisine that feels both international and distinctly Shanghai, and the service throughout the hotel has this professional warmth that makes everything smoother.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both luxurious and livable. You’re not staying in a museum piece — this is a hotel that actually enhances your Shanghai experience rather than just providing a place to sleep. The combination of the emerging neighborhood location, genuinely thoughtful design, and that high guest rating (which honestly reflects the reality of staying here) makes it particularly appealing for travelers who want something a bit more authentic than the typical international chain experience. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay if you can manage it.

The concierge service in Shanghai arranges private Bund yacht charters, behind-closed-doors tea ceremonies, and Art Deco rooftop suppers.

Reviews of Artyzen Habitat Taopu Shanghai

  • Luís from Brazil – 6 May 2025 (7/10)

It isn't far from downtown. The bedroom is spacious, with a comfortable bed and nice view from the city. The building is modern and has great design. On check-in, staff were quite busy talking to many travelers that seemed dissatisfied but still they were patient and helped me through once it was my turn. For myself, check-in and check-out were very quick.

What could be improved: The breakfast could offer more western options of dishes. What really bothered me was the fact that you cannot change the air conditioning settings. The room was very hot and I couldn't make it colder.

  • 劉志權 from Taiwan – 18 April 2025 (9/10)

    交通便利,餐點多樣,口味清淡

  • Kee from Singapore – 27 March 2025 (2/10)

What could be improved: First time staying at a hotel with no aircon but only a standing fan. The centralised aircon was on heater mode and despite the weather turning warm, the hotel did not turn on the ‘cooling’ mode despite making numerous requests to the staff to do so. All I was offered was a fan and told to leave the windows opened, which made things worse due to the noise generated from the traffic. It was a disappointing stay indeed!

  • Maarten from Netherlands – 28 February 2025 (9/10)

Mijn verblijf in Artyzen Shanghai was fantastisch!

What could be improved: Eigenlijk niets, alles was perfect! Voor sommige reizigers kan de ligging buiten het centrum een minpunt zijn, maar dit wordt ruimschoots gecompenseerd door de prijs en de kwaliteit van het hotel.
