URSIDE Hotel Shanghai The Bund Overview

First Impressions

Walking into URSIDE Hotel Shanghai The Bund, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical four-star property. The lobby strikes that perfect balance between contemporary design and warmth — it’s polished without feeling stuffy, which honestly sets the tone for the entire experience. Located in Huangpu district, this upscale hotel sits in one of those spots that makes you feel like you’ve landed right in the heart of Shanghai’s energy. The staff greets you with genuine smiles, and there’s this efficient buzz about the place that tells you they know what they’re doing.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about the location on Huayuangang Road — you’re close enough to The Bund’s iconic waterfront to easily walk there, but tucked away from the absolute chaos of the main tourist strips. Couples seem to particularly appreciate this balance (they’ve rated the location 8.3, which makes total sense). You can stroll to the famous Bund promenade for those postcard-worthy skyline shots, then retreat back to a quieter neighborhood when you need to decompress. The metro connections are solid too, so getting around Shanghai becomes pretty straightforward once you figure out the system.

The Rooms

The rooms feel thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated — there’s a difference, you know? Everything has its place, from the bedside controls to the bathroom layout, and the attention to detail shows in small touches like proper lighting for reading and enough outlets where you actually need them. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the soundproofing works well considering you’re in one of the world’s busiest cities. I mean, you’ll still hear Shanghai outside your window, but it’s more like a gentle urban hum than disruptive noise.

Breakfast Experience

The breakfast spread actually impressed me — they’ve managed to cover Continental, Full English/Irish, Vegetarian, and Asian options without any of them feeling like an afterthought. The Asian selections are particularly well-done, which you’d hope for in Shanghai but doesn’t always happen at international hotels. You’ll find proper congee alongside decent scrambled eggs, and the vegetarian options go beyond just fruit and toast. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up properly for a day of exploring without leaving you overstuffed or underwhelmed.

Why Guests Love It

With an 8.4 rating, this hotel clearly gets the fundamentals right — and after staying here, I can see why. It’s that combination of professional service, smart location, and refined comfort that makes the difference between a good trip and a great one. The recent guests have rated the location highly (8.2) for good reason; you’re positioned to experience Shanghai like a local while still having easy access to the must-see tourist spots. Whether you’re here for business or leisure, URSIDE Hotel Shanghai The Bund delivers that reliable, upscale experience that lets you focus on enjoying the city rather than worrying about your accommodation.

Reviews of URSIDE Hotel Shanghai The Bund

  • Jennifer from Hong Kong – 11 April 2025 (9/10)

One of the standout aspects was how easy it was to get around the city. I loved taking taxis to various attractions; it made exploring Shanghai a breeze.

The hotel's location was pleasantly quiet, offering a relaxing retreat from the bustling city. I also adored the design of the loft—it was unique and added a special touch to my stay. Overall, [Hotel Name] provided a memorable and enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai!

What could be improved: The hotel was quite far from major tourist attractions and the nearest metro station, which made getting around a bit more challenging. Additionally, local shops were a bit distant and closed around 8 PM, although I appreciated the convenience of delivery services.

Another issue was the thin walls; I could hear movement from neighbors in the loft, which occasionally disrupted my peace.

Overall, while these aspects were noticeable, they didn't overshadow the positive experience I had at the hotel.

  • Simon from Australia – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

The room was cosy and comfortable. Hotel is close to the river frontage for exploring by foot or rental bike. Metro and shops also close by, and coffee and meals excellent.

What could be improved: The hot water took some time to get warm for a shower.

  • Maximilian from Germany – 17 March 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: There were loud sounds from nearby construction, and at night there was no lighting in the lobby. The information that the staff gave us was sometimes contradictory and confusing.

  • Zhenghua from Denmark – 14 February 2025 (9/10)

Low price. Compact but enough room.

What could be improved: Not well soundproof.

  • Theeravee from Japan – 14 January 2025 (8/10)

    Amenities are fully provided

  • Erica from New Zealand – 28 December 2024 (9/10)

    Fantastic staff. Quiet central location.

  • Mariana from Portugal – 28 November 2024 (8/10)

The hotel had a good vibe in general, room was big, everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly

What could be improved: Wi fi didn’t work, staff spoke very minimal English but spoke via a translator app and it was ok. A bit far from the city center but we knew that when we booked it

  • Peter from Sweden – 28 November 2024 (9/10)

Breakfast was really good, and overall the accommodation had really good value for money.
I got the "private room with shared bathroom" and the layout was very cool. It felt kind of like a capsule hotel but with blocks of rooms instead of beds.

What could be improved: None of the staff members seem to speak English.

  • Christoph from Germany – 14 November 2024 (8/10)

One free beverage is offered every day (beer or coffee). The coffee is the best we had in China. Very industrial feel to the hotel, creative design, would stay here again.

  • Nhat from Singapore – 7 November 2024 (8/10)

The room concept is quite unique, decor is retro, vintage and cozy.

What could be improved: It’s 16 mins walk from the nearest metro station, but you can rent bike to cycle to the hotel.
