Location & Getting Around

You know what’s brilliant about Tai’an Road? It’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the chaos of Huaihai Road directly, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from some of Shanghai’s best shopping and dining. The metro connections are solid — Changshu Road station is close by, which gets you to People’s Square in about fifteen minutes. I’ve stayed in fancier neighborhoods that were way less practical for actually exploring the city. Plus, there’s free parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Shanghai, though honestly, you won’t need a car from here.

The Room Experience

My room was on the eighth floor, and while it wasn’t huge, everything felt thoughtfully designed. The bed was genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually worked properly. What I really appreciated were the little touches: proper blackout curtains (crucial for jet lag recovery), enough outlets near the bed, and a work desk that’s actually usable if you need to get things done. The air conditioning runs quietly too, which matters more than you’d think in Shanghai’s humid summers.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast spread hits that sweet spot between Continental and Asian options without trying to be everything to everyone. The congee is actually good — I mean, properly seasoned, not the bland hotel version you usually get. They do fresh fruit well, decent coffee, and the dim sum selection changes daily which keeps things interesting if you’re staying for several days. The restaurant staff seems to understand that some guests want to eat quickly and others want to linger, and they adjust their service accordingly.

Honestly, it’s the combination of location and genuine hospitality that makes this place work. The 9.5 location rating from recent guests isn’t just about proximity to attractions — it’s about being in a neighborhood that feels authentically Shanghai while still being tourist-friendly.   環境清幽地點方便。櫃台服務人員親切。第一天外出回耒时，櫃台问我們是否有掉錢，從錢包的外面包裝(印有繁体中文字)， 直覺是我倆兄妹掉的。果然不錯，是我哥掉的。錢包裡面錢不多，但是在那麼多的旅客中估得到是我們兄妹兩人掉的，不簡單。謝謝10月19號晚上值班的韋小姐。白天班的那位帥哥男士，服務也很好。

  地鐵10號線交通大學站下車7號出口，往「泰安路」方向走約200公尺。到達泰安路向右轉，走約100公尺就到旅館小區大門。進入小區大門後，直走約20公尺就可看到酒店。酒店內部裝潢仍保留舊時設計與傢俱，整體環境可感受當時「法租界」一些情境!早餐非自助式，由服務人員準備妥(西、中式)食用。
