Shanghai Hongqiao Yankuang Tulip Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Shanghai Hongqiao Yankuang Tulip Hotel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels genuinely luxurious without being flashy — marble floors, contemporary art pieces, and staff who actually seem happy to see you. I mean, you’re in Qingpu District, which might sound remote if you don’t know Shanghai, but honestly, this location turned out to be one of the hotel’s biggest surprises.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before arriving — Qingpu District is actually brilliant for couples wanting to escape the chaos of central Shanghai without losing access to everything. You’re close enough to Hongqiao Airport (which is incredibly handy), but far enough from the tourist crowds to feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The five-star property sits on Mingzhu Road, and there’s something almost resort-like about the area with its tree-lined streets and more relaxed pace. Recent guests have been raving about this spot, and I can see why couples especially love it here.
The Room Experience
My room was spacious in a way that surprised me — Shanghai hotels aren’t exactly known for generous square footage, but this place breaks that rule. The beds are properly comfortable (you know how hotel beds can be hit or miss), and the bathroom actually has a separate shower and tub, which felt indulgent after long days exploring the city. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — quality linens, blackout curtains that actually work, and windows that open to let in fresh air.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves a mix of international and Chinese cuisine that’s honestly better than it needs to be. Breakfast was particularly good — fresh pastries, local dishes, and coffee that didn’t taste like it came from a machine. There’s also a spa that’s perfect for unwinding, especially if you’ve been dealing with jet lag or just want to treat yourselves. The fitness center is well-equipped too, though I’ll admit I spent more time enjoying the peaceful atmosphere than working out.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both luxurious and welcoming without any pretense. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable, and there’s ample parking if you’re planning to rent a car and explore beyond Shanghai. Couples consistently rate this hotel highly because it offers that perfect balance — sophisticated enough for special occasions, comfortable enough to actually relax. You’re getting five-star service and amenities in a location that feels more authentic than the typical tourist zones, and honestly, that combination is pretty hard to find in Shanghai these days.

The hotel is comfortable, clean and nice. The location is excellent if you need Shanghai National EXPO or the Hongqiao railway/ airport. Breakfast is good. There is a supermarket just opposite the hotel. Please, mind that there is quite a small choice of opportunities for dinner near the hotel, but there are some in a 10-15 minute's walk from it
