Shanghai Hills&Linghu’s Transit-Prime Suite-Line 2, Huamu Rd 788, Direct to Key Spots & SNIEC Overview

First Impressions

When I first saw the name Shanghai Hills&Linghu’s Transit-Prime Suite-Line 2, Huamu Rd 788, Direct to Key Spots & SNIEC, I’ll be honest — it’s quite a mouthful. But you know what? That lengthy name actually tells you everything you need to know about this place. It’s a three-star apartment that’s all about location and practicality, tucked away in Pudong’s Huamu Road area. The building itself is modern but understated — nothing flashy, just clean lines and that efficient Shanghai residential style you see everywhere in the newer districts.

Location That Actually Works

Here’s the thing about staying in Shanghai — you can have the fanciest hotel in the world, but if you’re stuck spending two hours a day on the metro, what’s the point? This place sits right on Line 2, which honestly might be the most useful subway line for visitors. You’re looking at maybe 20 minutes to People’s Square, and the Shanghai New International Expo Centre is practically next door. I mean, when recent guests rate the location a perfect 10.0, they’re not just being generous — this spot genuinely makes sense for getting around the city.

The Space Itself

The room is actually more like a proper studio setup, which surprised me in a good way. There’s a functional kitchenette where you can actually cook something decent — not just reheat instant noodles. The living area has enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. The bathroom is compact but well-designed, with good water pressure (which, let’s face it, can be hit or miss in Shanghai apartments).

Neighborhood Feel

Pudong gets a bad rap for being sterile, but this particular corner feels more lived-in than some of the flashier areas. There’s a decent convenience store downstairs, and you’ll find proper local restaurant options within walking distance — not just the usual hotel dining markup. The area gets busy during weekdays with all the business travelers heading to the expo center, but evenings and weekends have this surprisingly quiet, residential vibe. It’s the kind of place where you see families out for evening walks, which always feels like a good sign to me.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but it delivers exactly what it promises. Couples seem to particularly appreciate having their own space without the hotel formality — there’s something nice about being able to make coffee in your pajamas or order takeout and eat it on an actual couch. The transit connections are genuinely excellent, and you’re getting way more space than you’d find in a traditional hotel room at this price point. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Shanghai by car will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

Reviews of Shanghai Hills&Linghu’s Transit-Prime Suite-Line 2, Huamu Rd 788, Direct to Key Spots & SNIEC

  • Daniel from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (8/10)

The homestay is located in the core area of Huaihai Middle Road, bustling yet quiet.Outside the door is the lively Huaihai Middle Road, but inside the courtyard it's very peaceful and you can hardly hear any noise. It's also very close to the subway station.Although the entire room is not particularly large, the layout is very reasonable, and we,four adults and two children, did not feel crowded. The tatami rooms are very suitable for families with children,as there's no risk of the kids falling off the bed.The rooms are also cleaned very thoroughly, and the host replies to messages very promptly.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    • The power sockets in both tatami rooms are located next to the beds.It would be great to add socket protector plugs to prevent children from touching them when not in use. There's a small lamp on the tatami downstairs, and it would be nice to have one upstairs as well.

    • The cleaning in the cabinet area is not thorough enough. There's still a lot of oil on the frying pan,and it feels like it hasn't been cleaned. There are a few cloves of garlic and a bag of already opened instant noodles in the water heater cabinet. The homestay provides a complete set of tableware, but since they are placed in the cabinet in a messy way,you still need to wash and disinfect them before use. That's why we mainly relied on takeout for breakfast this time. There are many restaurants around, and the delivery is very fast.

Overall, the stay was very pleasant. The homestay provided clean disposable toiletries and towels in advance.I would recommend this place to friends who want to visit Shanghai, especially families with children.

  • William from South Korea – 30 December 2024 (8/10)

The place is really nice. The room was clean and cozy, and the facilities were great. The host was super friendly and helpful. Just a tiny thing, the Wi-Fi was a bit wonky sometimes, but it didn't bother me much. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back.

  • Edward from United States – 28 December 2024 (8/10)

The room was rather spacious and it was quite near to both People's Square and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. My husband, my child and I spent a pleasant holiday together.

  • Akvile from Lithuania – 14 November 2024 (7/10)

The location is hard to beat, would highly recommend if you want to enjoy all the best of Shanghai.

What could be improved: The apartment needs update and deep cleaning.

  • Tiffany from United States – 18 June 2024 (8/10)

Location, location, location! It’s close to everything.

What could be improved: Bathroom is little small but you have everything you need.
