Shanghai Hills & Gefii SPACE X close to Metro line 2 Jing’an Temple Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first heard the name Shanghai Hills & Gefii SPACE X close to Metro line 2 Jing’an Temple, I thought it was a bit of a mouthful — but you know what? It actually tells you everything you need to know. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly what makes it work. The moment you step inside, there’s this modern, almost tech-forward vibe that feels fresh without being pretentious. I mean, the SPACE X branding isn’t just for show — they’ve really thought about maximizing every inch of space here.
Location & Getting Around
The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to be in the heart of Shanghai without paying five-star prices. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Jing’an Temple metro station on Line 2, which connects you to pretty much everywhere you’d want to go — Pudong, the Bund, Nanjing Road. What I really appreciated was how quiet Changde Road actually is, considering you’re smack in the middle of Jing’an District. There’s this nice balance where you can walk to trendy cafes and shopping, but you’re not dealing with constant street noise. Plus, they’ve got private parking available, which is practically gold in this part of the city.
The Room Experience
The room design is where that “SPACE X” concept really shows. Everything feels intentionally compact but clever — sort of like staying in a well-designed studio apartment rather than a cramped hotel box. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star place, and I loved how they used vertical space for storage. The bathroom is small but functional, with a rainfall shower that actually has decent water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in Shanghai). What really impressed me was the tech integration — smart lighting, USB ports everywhere, and surprisingly fast WiFi.
Neighborhood Vibes
Jing’an District has this perfect mix of old Shanghai charm and modern convenience that you don’t find everywhere. Within a ten-minute walk, you’ve got everything from traditional street food vendors to upscale international restaurants. I spent a morning just wandering the lanes around the hotel and stumbled across this incredible local breakfast spot that I never would have found otherwise. The area feels safe day and night, and there’s always something happening — whether it’s the weekend crowds at Jing’an Temple or the after-work crowd grabbing dinner along Nanjing West Road.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place where you’ll get room service or a concierge, but that’s not really the point. What you get is a smart, well-located base for exploring Shanghai that doesn’t break the bank. The fact that couples rate it so highly makes total sense — there’s something intimate about the space that works well for two people who want to experience the city together. The 10.0 location rating from recent guests isn’t just hype either; when you can walk to the metro, grab authentic xiaolongbao around the corner, and still be back in a quiet, comfortable space within minutes, you realize why people keep coming back here.
