Radisson Collection Hotel, Xing Guo Shanghai Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Radisson Collection Hotel, Xing Guo Shanghai feels like discovering a well-kept secret in one of the city’s most coveted neighborhoods. This five-star property sits on quiet Xingguo Road in Changning district, and honestly, the moment you step through those doors, you understand why so many guests keep coming back — there’s something genuinely special about this place that goes beyond typical luxury hotel experiences. The lobby strikes that perfect balance between sophisticated and welcoming, with design elements that nod to both international elegance and subtle Chinese influences.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what really sets this hotel apart? It’s tucked away in one of Shanghai’s most desirable residential areas, where tree-lined streets actually exist in this massive metropolis. The Changning district location means you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the tourist crowds — I mean, couples consistently rate this spot 9.3 out of 10, and that’s not by accident. You can easily reach the French Concession, Jing’an Temple, and the shopping districts, but when you return each evening, you’re in this peaceful enclave that feels worlds away from Shanghai’s typical urban intensity. Plus, having free private parking in Shanghai is practically unheard of — that alone is worth its weight in gold.
The Rooms
The accommodations here genuinely impressed me, and I’ve stayed in plenty of five-star properties across Asia. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter luxury, with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light during the day. The bathrooms are particularly well-appointed — spacious enough that you’re not bumping into things, with those little touches that show someone actually thought about how guests use the space. What I appreciated most was the attention to both comfort and functionality; the work areas are properly lit and positioned, and the beds are that perfect firmness that somehow works for everyone.
Dining & Breakfast
The breakfast buffet here is honestly one of the better hotel spreads I’ve encountered in Shanghai. It’s not just about quantity — though there’s certainly plenty to choose from — but the quality is consistently high across both Western and Asian options. You’ll find proper dim sum alongside fresh pastries, and the coffee is actually good (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given at hotel breakfast buffets). The dining spaces themselves have this relaxed atmosphere where you can linger over your meal without feeling rushed, and the staff seems to genuinely care about the experience rather than just going through the motions.
Why Guests Love It
There’s a reason this hotel has such a high percentage of repeat guests compared to other Shanghai properties — it delivers on the promise of luxury hospitality without the pretense. The service feels personal rather than scripted, and the location offers that rare combination of tranquility and accessibility that’s so hard to find in a city like Shanghai. Whether you’re here for business or leisure, the Radisson Collection Hotel, Xing Guo Shanghai creates an experience that feels both polished and authentic, which explains why it consistently earns those 9.2 ratings from guests who’ve experienced the best the city has to offer.

We stayed in a Business Class room and liked it — super clean and spacious. The room even had a hot tub, which was a nice surprise! Breakfast was great too, with lots of variety, fresh-squeezed juice, and tasty dishes made by the chefs. The surrounding garden was beautiful, and getting around from the hotel was super easy and affordable by taxi (we used the DiDi app). The entire staff was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The hotel also has a gym, a spotless sauna, and a nice swimming pool — all really well-maintained.
What could be improved: It would’ve been nice if the fresh juice had been available throughout the whole breakfast time.Bianca from Romania – 26 April 2025 (10/10)
Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, clean, great location with a garden in a quiet neighbourhood, breakfast rich and varied, the entire staff extremely helpful. We arrived in the morning after an 11 hours flight and we get our room at 10 a.m. Also, the concierge helped us to book tickets for attractions from chinese sites. The pool was a plus.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Nice location in it’s own grounds. Close enough to walk into the French concession area. The rooms are very nice, huge bed, well appointed bathroom with a huge bath and Molton Brown toiletries supplied. Some international channels on the TV if you want to watch any. The breakfast buffet is lovely, if a little expensive for China. Staff were very attentive and the concierge can organise trips and visits if you want that. We didn’t need to use this service as we just used Didi cars to move around Shanghai. We booked our own River cruise and Shanghai tower visit using C trip. The photo was the view from our window and you can see Shanghai tower in the distance – the French Concession is in the foreground.
What could be improved: Nothing it was all very nice.P from Singapore – 11 April 2025 (10/10)
– The hotel is tucked away from the roads and city center, making it quieter and more pleasant, but still convenient to get around anywhere.
– The staff were friendly and ready to assist at any time. They were also able to communicate in several languages and help with bookings on apps.
– We stayed on the Madam Li floor and the room was pristine and spacious. They also have a private lounge on that floor with drinks and a rest area.
– The amenities were also outstanding. We had a late return flight and had complimentary access to their fitness center after checking out so that we could freshen up and rest in a private room.
What could be improved: Nothing, the stay was great!Sunnycitron from Spain – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
We really like this hotel. It’s located in a great area with plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. The breakfast is excellent, offering a wide variety of options—including delicious Chinese specialties we loved, along with many other choices. We also really enjoyed the Chinese restaurant at the hotel. The staff are exceptionally kind and very helpful
