Metropolo Dahua Hotel Shanghai Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Metropolo Dahua Hotel Shanghai, you immediately get that feeling of “okay, this place has its act together.” It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — just solid, well-designed comfort that actually works. The lobby has this clean, modern aesthetic that feels distinctly Chinese without being kitschy, and honestly, the staff seem genuinely happy to see you rather than just going through the motions.
Prime Changning Location
Here’s what I love about the location on Yan’an Road West — you’re in Shanghai‘s Changning district, which means you get that perfect balance of being connected to everything without the chaos of the tourist zones. The four-star property sits right where you can easily hop on the metro or grab a taxi to anywhere in the city, but when you come back at night, it’s actually quiet enough to sleep. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot a 9 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You’ve got shopping, authentic local restaurants, and that whole stretch of Yan’an Road that gives you a real feel for how Shanghai actually works.
The Room Experience
The room itself surprised me — it’s bigger than you’d expect for Shanghai, with this smart layout that makes everything feel spacious without wasting an inch. The bed is genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually block out the city lights completely. What really got me was the attention to detail — good water pressure in the shower, plenty of outlets where you need them, and a work desk that’s actually usable if you need to get stuff done.
Practical Perks
You know what’s rare in Shanghai? Free parking. This place has it, which is honestly a game-changer if you’re planning to rent a car or have business meetings around the city. The repeat guest rate here is higher than most hotels I’ve stayed at, and after a few days, you start to understand why — it’s those little things that work smoothly. The elevators are fast, the WiFi doesn’t drop out, and there’s always someone at the front desk who can help sort things out without making you feel like you’re bothering them.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the kind of place you’ll Instagram every corner of, but it’s the hotel you’ll actually want to come back to. The 8.5 rating feels spot-on — it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Whether you’re here for business or exploring the city, you’ll find yourself appreciating how everything just works. The location keeps you connected to Shanghai’s energy while giving you a proper place to recharge, and honestly, in a city that can be overwhelming, that balance is worth everything.
Apartments in Shanghai suit remote creatives with skyline balconies, fast metro links, and bilingual co-working lofts.

Reviews of Metropolo Dahua Hotel Shanghai
Elza from France – 16 May 2025 (9/10)
Staff very nice and willing to help
What could be improved: Breakfast starts a bit late while I sometimes needed to leave quite early for work, but otherwise it was very goodAlexandru-cristian from Romania – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
We had a very pleasant stay during our time in Beijing! The staff were incredibly helpful and made our trip much easier – from booking restaurant reservations and touristic attractions to assisting us with a cancelled train, they truly went above and beyond. The breakfast was also a nice surprise, with some European options available, which we really appreciated. The room was a bit small and made it slightly difficult to open our large suitcases. Overall, we had a great experience and felt well taken care of throughout our stay. Thank you!

There is a lot to like about this property. I visit Shanghai quite often and this is my first choice for a stay. The location is very convenient. The neighbourhood is fantastic and it is away from touristy hustle bustle of Nanjing Road, yet close enough to be accessed with convenience. This time somehow I loved it even more. Breakfast was fantastic as well. Staff is courteous and I just love the rooms there.
What could be improved: Nothing that I don’t like.Remi from Sweden – 17 April 2025 (9/10)
We stayed for 13 nights and communication was flawless (we're Mandarin speakers). Our room was always tidy and the bed comfortable. We took breakfasts half the time and it was a really good buffet with mixed Chinese (in majority) and Western cuisines. WIFI worked fine as well. Everything that was advertised was available (clean towels, hair dryer, electric kettle, tea&coffee bags, water bottles, shampoo, lotion…)
What could be improved: 1. We had a small issue with payment at the end. We chose to split the bill in 2 i.e. paying after about 8 days but for some reason the staff got confused during checkout. It turned out ok but a bit stressful
2. TV signal got some annoying interruption every now and thenMurat from Turkey – 29 March 2025 (8/10)
Location was perfect, very close to Jiangsu Road metro station.
What could be improved: Breakfast should have more western items in the buffet. Omlettes and scrambled eggs were missing. Also, it can start at 6:30 instead of 07:00 for business travellers.Js from Japan – 17 December 2024 (9/10)
Everything. Especially, All staff were very helpful. thank you Uyen & Hien.
Lontio from Cameroon – 5 December 2024 (9/10)
It was very accessible and the service was top notch
What could be improved: Nothing badKarl from Germany – 1 November 2024 (9/10)
Good central location, comfortable clean room and a great breakfast. It was also nice that there was a gym that could be used.
What could be improved: It would have been nice to have known during the booking process that the room had no windows. The pictures should no windows but we assumed that the room would have windows as we didn’t read anything explicitly stating the contrary.
The temperature control on the air conditioning was also defective.Eleonora from Italy – 16 August 2024 (9/10)
Room clean and nice breakfast expecially the beef noodles. Really close to nice bars and shops.
Receptionists have poor english but Always willing tò helpDarren from China – 17 July 2024 (7/10)
Pretty good location & affordable with spacious rooms.
What could be improved: The AC in our room was not working very well and we couldn’t sleep because it was so hot, but when we told the staff, the repairman said he went and looked at it and nothing is wrong with the AC. After having a back & forth for about 25 minutes the manager offered for us to move to a different room.
I don’t think arguing with your customers amounts to good service.
