Hyatt Regency Shanghai Wujiaochang Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hyatt Regency Shanghai Wujiaochang, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel — there’s something more refined here. The lobby feels spacious without being intimidating, and honestly, the staff’s attention to detail becomes apparent within minutes of checking in. This five-star property sits in Shanghai‘s Yangpu district, which might not sound familiar if you’re new to the city, but trust me, it’s perfectly positioned for both business and leisure travelers.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re actually in a thriving local area rather than stuck in some isolated hotel district. The Wujiaochang area has this great mix of shopping centers, universities, and authentic local life that you don’t always get in more touristy spots. Couples seem to absolutely love it here (they rate the location 9.7, which is pretty remarkable), and I can see why. You’ve got easy access to both the business districts and cultural attractions, plus the metro connections are solid. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too — they offer free private parking, which anyone who’s driven in Shanghai will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are where this hotel really shines, and I mean that genuinely. People consistently rave about the beds — apparently they’re some of the most comfortable in the city, and after spending a night there, I’d have to agree. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, with those little touches that make you feel like someone actually cares about your comfort. The views vary depending on which floor you’re on, but even the city-facing rooms give you a nice sense of Shanghai’s energy without the noise that usually comes with it.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant options here are actually quite good — not just hotel-adequate, but genuinely worth eating at even if you weren’t staying here. What impressed me most was how they balance international cuisine with local flavors without trying too hard to be everything to everyone. The spa facilities are well-maintained and feel like a proper retreat from the city’s intensity. You know what’s interesting? They have a lot of repeat guests, which tells you something about the consistency of the experience — people don’t come back to hotels that disappoint.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it gets the fundamentals right while adding those extra touches that matter. The location gives you authentic Shanghai access without sacrificing convenience, the service feels personal rather than scripted, and the facilities actually deliver on comfort. Recent guests consistently rate it highly (around 9.1 for location), and honestly, that kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident. Whether you’re here for business meetings in the nearby districts or exploring Shanghai’s cultural offerings, this place serves as a genuinely comfortable home base rather than just somewhere to sleep.
The concierge service in Shanghai arranges private Bund yacht charters, behind-closed-doors tea ceremonies, and Art Deco rooftop suppers.

Reviews of Hyatt Regency Shanghai Wujiaochang
Ou from United States – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
The great location. The comfort room. The very helpful staff. The wonderful stores/eateries/cafes/restaurants in the same building and nearby with walking distance. The Subway Line 10 station and many buses nearby.
What could be improved: Shopping Mall downstairs opens at 10am instead of earlier like 9am. Hotel breakfast was not satisfying for me last time I stayed so did not try this time.Cora from Australia – 4 May 2025 (8/10)
We stayed in a regency suite and had a wonderful experience. Service was fantastic from check in to check out. Breakfast was included and the range of Chinese and western dishes was extensive and items were fresh. Our suite facilities were modern and everything was clean. The location was perfect for our needs as I have family in Hongkou. Wujiaochang allows access to multiple shopping centres so restaurants and other amenities are all conveniently close by.
What could be improved: Nothing comes to mind.Dmitry from Russia – 3 May 2025 (8/10)
Clean, good breakfast
What could be improved: Far from the center of Shanghai, 30 min on taxi everytimeKai from Hong Kong – 10 September 2024 (8/10)
The location is quite good. It is connected to a big shopping mall. So it is very convenient.
What could be improved: Some of the facilities in the room are a little bit old. The breakfast is not very tasty.Susanna from United Kingdom – 24 May 2024 (8/10)

Comfortable bed, location, swimming poor
What could be improved: The room temperature was a little too warm to me but that’s personal preference not fault of the property.Meng from United Kingdom – 12 January 2024 (9/10)
The swimming pool is very nice. I did enjoy swimming there.

The staff are helpful. The rooms are clean and the location is very convenient as it links to a big mall full of restaurants. The shower facilities are satisfying. I do like their shampoo and shower gel they choose. It is a hotel with a taste.
What could be improved: I paid with a different card from the card I reserved. However, The staff couldn't cancel the pre-authorization completely of my previous reserved credit card. Hence he had to charge CNY 1 yuan which actually cost me CNY 15 foreign currency charge. I hope they could just cancel the reserved card completely which is a normal action to most of hotels I lived in.
Another thing is the traffic jam is pretty bad when entering the hotel by car. It is not their fault. But that was a pain everytime we commute.
