Atour Hotel Shanghai Lujiazui Babaiban Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Atour Hotel Shanghai Lujiazui Babaiban feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of Shanghai’s financial district. The hotel sits on the second floor of the Neiwailian Building on Shangcheng Road, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here to experience Pudong’s energy. This four-star property has that modern Chinese hospitality vibe — clean lines, thoughtful design, but not trying too hard to impress. You know what I mean? It’s confident without being flashy.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about staying in Lujiazui — you’re literally in the middle of everything that makes Shanghai feel like the future. The Oriental Pearl Tower is practically your neighbor, and the Huangpu River views are just a short walk away. I get why couples rate this location so highly (apparently 9.0 out of 10), because there’s something romantic about watching the city lights reflect off those gleaming skyscrapers. The metro connections are solid too, which means you can easily hop over to the Bund or explore the French Concession when you want a change of pace.
The Room Experience
The room design follows Atour’s signature style — minimalist but warm, with those subtle Chinese touches that don’t feel forced. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was, considering you’re in such a busy area. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-speak comfortable), and the bathrooms have that rainfall shower situation that actually works. The tech integration is pretty seamless too — you can control most things from your phone, which is handy when you’re jet-lagged and can’t figure out the light switches.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is actually worth waking up for, which isn’t something I say lightly. They’ve got the continental basics covered, but the buffet selection leans heavily into local flavors — congee, dim sum, fresh noodles alongside your standard eggs and pastries. The breakfast-to-go option is clutch if you’re rushing to a morning meeting in the financial district. I mean, the whole setup feels designed for business travelers who want something better than grab-and-go restaurant food but don’t have time for a leisurely meal.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel in Shanghai, but that’s exactly why it works so well. The 8.3 rating reflects what you actually get — solid service, smart location, and rooms that feel like a proper retreat after a day of navigating the city’s intensity. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right, and there’s reliable parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Shanghai (though honestly, the metro is your friend here). It’s the kind of place where everything just works without drama, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to make the most of your time in this incredible city.
To book a hotel in Shanghai during Autumn Fair, visitors juggle jade market strolls with Huangpu river cruises.

Reviews of Atour Hotel Shanghai Lujiazui Babaiban
Pawel from Poland – 23 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location next to the Shangcheng Road subway station in Shanghai's business district, large size of the room – idea for a family 2+2, comfortable bed and free amenities and drinks in the room plus laundry room that can be used free of charge, also possibility to leave suitcase after checkout for late departure
What could be improved: Lack of English speaking stuff which can be workaround with translation apps on your mobile phone with internet – from my experience it seems to be a common gap in ChinaLadislav from Czech Republic – 16 May 2024 (7/10)
– the reception/receptionist was helpful and very kind. I could check in 5 hours earlyer and check out 3 hours later than I expected, without needing to pay "half a day" like in other hotels.
What could be improved: – I was disappointed with my window. The room I had was different from the room I could see on pictures when bookong. I had two small windows that couldn´t be opened. Just one of them I could partly open, just for 5 cm, not more. The room would be great for 400 USD per 7 nights, but I payed 747 USD per 7 nights and it seems to me much for plain hotel room. How from Singapore – 2 January 2024 (7/10)
Good location with nearby eateries and 7-11 convenience stall.

I am particularly grateful to the front desk staff Miss Nian Qing who was very helpful to my family. She took the extra mile by helping my family to book the hotel room when Booking.com cancelled my booking without prior notice. Miss Nian Qing is a very efficient worker who executed her work with such a high degree of accuracy and speed. With her arrangement, my family stayed in this hotel very comfortably and she has reversed the bad experience caused by booking.com.
Aloysius from Singapore – 4 December 2023 (9/10)
Located just beside the metro, very convenient. Areas like People's Square, The Bund, and other significant localities are less than 20 minutes away from the hotel. Also close to a few shopping malls and 24-hour convenience stores. Service was great, the staff helped us out when we tried to find a travel adapter, and also gave us a small farewell gift after we checked out.
What could be improved: Nothing much, really. It was a pleasant stay.Paichun from France – 22 November 2023 (9/10)
Nicely warm decoration and the environment is clean. Food is good with various options for its size. Location is perfect having Lujiazui Center nearby, you would find lots of great restaurants inside.
