Atour Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao National Exhibition Center Wuzhong Road Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Atour Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao National Exhibition Center Wuzhong Road, you immediately notice how the lobby strikes that perfect balance between modern and welcoming. It’s not trying too hard to impress, which honestly makes it more impressive. The staff greets you in both Mandarin and English — something you’ll appreciate if you’re not fluent in Chinese — and check-in is refreshingly straightforward. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Minhang district, and you can tell from the moment you arrive that they’ve thought carefully about what business travelers and couples actually need.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re on Wuzhong Road, which means you’re actually connected to Shanghai in a way that makes sense. The Hongqiao National Exhibition Center is practically next door, so if you’re here for business, you’ll save yourself the headache of navigating Shanghai’s morning traffic. But even if you’re not here for conferences, the metro connections are solid. Line 2 gets you to People’s Square in about 45 minutes, and honestly, that’s not bad considering you’re staying somewhere much quieter than the city center. Couples particularly seem to get this — there’s something nice about having a peaceful base while still being able to explore the city.
The Room Experience
The room design follows Atour’s signature style — clean lines, neutral colors, and everything you need without unnecessary clutter. What struck me most was the attention to lighting; they’ve got both overhead lights and bedside reading lamps that actually work for reading (you’d be surprised how many hotels get this wrong). The bathroom is compact but well-designed, with a rainfall shower that has decent water pressure. There’s a work desk that’s actually usable if you need to get things done, and the Wi-Fi is reliable throughout the property.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant serves a mix of Chinese and international dishes, though I’d recommend venturing out for dinner — there are some excellent local spots within walking distance. Breakfast, however, is worth staying in for. They do a solid spread with both Western options and Chinese congee, plus fresh fruit that’s actually fresh. The fitness center is small but has the essentials, and there’s a business center if you need to print boarding passes or handle last-minute work stuff. Parking is available on-site, which is a real plus if you’re driving in Shanghai.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s the kind of hotel that doesn’t surprise you with hidden fees or disappointing service. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth, and they remember details — like how you prefer your coffee or whether you need extra towels. The location consistently gets high marks because it offers that sweet spot of accessibility without the chaos of central Shanghai. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having a comfortable retreat that’s well-connected but not overwhelming. It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable in all the ways that actually matter when you’re traveling.
Best hotels in Shanghai blend sky bar jazz, Michelin dim sum, and spa suites with city views.
