Walking into Artyzen Habitat Qiantan Shanghai, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, the design and attention to detail feel more elevated than that rating suggests. The staff greeted me with genuine warmth — not the rehearsed politeness you get at some places, but actual helpfulness that made check-in surprisingly pleasant.

The Qiantan Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location in Pudong’s Qiantan area — you’re close enough to the action but far enough away to actually breathe. The hotel sits on West Yangsi Road, which might not mean much if you’re not familiar with Shanghai, but trust me, this is one of those spots that locals are just starting to discover. You’ve got the Huangpu River nearby, and the whole area has this emerging vibe that feels exciting rather than overwhelming. Getting to the Bund takes about 20 minutes by taxi, but you’re also walking distance to some genuinely good local spots that most tourists never find.

Room Experience

My room was spacious by Shanghai standards — and I mean actually spacious, not just “well, it’s bigger than a closet” spacious. The floor-to-ceiling windows really make a difference, especially if you snag one of the river-view rooms. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night, which honestly happens more often than I’d like to admit when traveling. What impressed me most was the bathroom — modern fixtures, good water pressure, and enough counter space to actually spread out your toiletries.

Dining and Amenities

The hotel’s restaurant serves a mix of international and local dishes, and while it’s not going to win any culinary awards, the breakfast spread is solid and the dinner options are better than expected. I particularly enjoyed their take on Shanghainese classics — nothing revolutionary, but executed well. The fitness center is small but well-equipped, and there’s a business center that’s actually useful if you need to print boarding passes or catch up on work. The spa offers decent treatments, though I’d recommend booking ahead since it’s not huge.

  Stayed for 2 nights. I was put in the disabled room even though I’m not disabled. The room was very nice but there didn’t seem to be an extractor fan in the bathroom so every time you have a hot shower you set off the room’s fire alarm.

  Very modern and clean, super friendly staff, big room, excellent facilities (laundry and gym). Only downside was that the internet was a bit patchy, sometimes fine, sometimes slow.

  I’m so happy that I chose this hotel. Bedding is really nice; clean & convenient; close proximity to the metro line 11; super good value; front desk staff Sora is especially helpful at checking in; when he found out that Ctrip mistakenly cancelled my booking; he ensured i was rebooked with same deal & got it done as fast as he could even though his shift ended already. I’m very impressed with his professionalism & the way he handled the situation. David was also very professional & eager to help as well. I’ll definitely come back to this hotel if I come visit Shanghai again.

  The room is quite lovely. Fairly spacious, clean, modern and a slightly chic, well designed and equipped, with small details here and there that made the stay very comfortable and enjoyable. There were also decent self-serve laundry facility and a nice gym. Staff was friendly and helpful. Getting to the airport was also relatively closer compared to more popular areas.
  
  What could be improved: First of all be prepared to spend some time travelling to get to the city center, which is a bit far even by car. The area is also fairly quiet (albeit safe) at night, you'll most likely go to Taikoo Li for food, shopping or hopping on the metro, walkable distance. The room got quite warm at night but the A/C controls didn't change much.
